Hello everyone! This is Paloma again, greeting you from B&P’s Shadorma & Beyond. Thank you for participating in last week’s challenge!
For this week you have the choice of writing a shadorma (a non-rhyming six-line poem in 3/5/3/3/7/5), or a “Triolet“.
.
.
What is a Triolet?
* There are two four-line stanzas;
* Line length and meter are the poet’s choice;
* Lines 1, 4, and 7 are the same;
* The rhyming scheme is abaa / abab.
.
Yes. You read that correctly. There are 8 lines; three of them are the same. This gives the tiolet a song-like feel.
Here are two examples:
.
We Poets
LuAnn Kennedy (1984– )
We poets are so very strange!
We write and write and lose our minds!
Emotions flow in quite a range;
We poets are so very strange!
We’re happy. Then, we quickly change;
To make a world it takes all kinds.
We poets are so very strange!
We write and write and lose our minds!
.
How Great My Grief
Thomas Hardy (1840-1928)
How great my grief, my joys how few,
Since first it was my fate to know thee!
– Have the slow years not brought to view
How great my grief, my joys how few,
Not memory shaped old times anew,
…Nor loving-kindness helped to show thee
How great my grief, my joys how few,
…Since first it was my fate to know thee?
.
.
Feel free to write a shadorma and/or triolet. The choice is yours! When you have written your poem(s), please TAG them B&P’s Shadorma & Beyond and MindLoveMisery’s Menagerie. Then add your link to the Mister Linky widget below.
Good luck!

Very glad you enjoyed it – the painting and the form! It’s good to try them out 🙂
Now if only I can get my act together and get written too — yikes!

Yes, it’s a trade-off, isn’t it?
I’m glad you had fun with it 🙂
