Heeding Haiku With HA: New Year

It is 31 December today; the last day of 2014 has arrived and would soon be gone. The year would change, like any other, but would there be a change in us? Would we as a part of the wide spectrum of humanity change our ideas, thoughts, notions, social obligations, stories, our past, our hearts, or love?

Such changes are slower than the changing year. We can’t attribute any definite time period which leads to such changes. But, if we won’t change, why do we fret about a new year? We make new year resolutions, set new goals, celebrate when the clock strikes 12. Maybe, it is the newness that we deem necessary, may be it is the newness that gives us hope for a better tomorrow.

the sight of this sunset

changing calendar-
a blue pigeon still calls
for its lost mate

first dream-
I touch a new leaf
of the old peepal

This week, I would like you to use some new year kigo for creating your haiku or tanka or both. Here are some that you can use:

new year, first sun, first calm, pine decorations, greeting cards, new year’s visits, first bath, card games, first purchase, etc.

I wish you and your loved ones, a happy and prosperous new year.

What to do next?

1. Publish a post with your haiku or tanka if you have a blog. If you haven’t got a blog, you can share them in the comments down below. In case you have published a post, you can submit its link in the linking widget.

2. After you have made the post, take some of your time and visit the links of other participants. This is how we learn and improvise. Return again at the end of the week if you have made your post during the weekdays because there would be new links to visit, which would help us all to make connections and develop the feeling of community and togetherness in our adventure every week. Even if you can’t take out the time to visit all the links, then visit at least the link shared before or after you and offer your feedback and develop comradeship with that person.

You can also add the following tags to your post: HeedingHaikuWithHA and MindLoveMisery’sMenagerie.
