Writing Prompt #200 “Special Collage and A World Apart 7″

Mandibelles Collage 3

Today’s quote was suggested to us by Mandibelle please check out her amazing blog

The quote “And now that you don’t have to be perfect, you can be good.” – John Steinbeck

What is the underlying theme? What’s the story here? The overarching emotions? If you like you can read them like panels in a comic strip it’s up to you how your interpret them. Literal or abstract are both perfectly acceptable.

If you have some great quote suggestions leave them in the comments below and I will use them in a future collage! Alternately if you are a photographer and would like to share some of your photos for the purpose of the collages let me know. If you are interested in making a collage for the prompt, let me know in the comments below.

Today I want you to think about the criminal justice system of your fictitious world. If you are not creating a fictitious world then consider the criminal justice in your own country and offer some suggestions for reform. I am giving you a lot to think about but you don’t have to answer all these questions.

Who enforces the laws (the government, a specific organisation, a council of elders, the community etc.)?

Do they carry weapons?

Are individuals allowed to own weapons? What kind are permissible if any?

Is violence permitted in the apprehension of criminals and under what circumstances?

At what age is an individual considered an adult? Are juveniles treated differently than adults? In what way?

What is the attitude of the general population toward criminals? Once convicted of a crime is reintegration into society possible? What are the limitations if any?

What are some of the basic laws and what are the consequences of violation?

Does capital punishment exist? If so under what circumstances?

Does the criminal justice system focus on disposal of criminals, punishment, or rehabilitation?

Do prisons exist? What are they like?

What rights do criminals have?

Is sentencing determined unilaterally by law enforcement? Or do criminals have a right to a trial? Are trials conducted fairly?

Sorry for the delay I just got the email that a sub was needed!
