MLMM FRIDAY MUSIC CHALLENGE 3-18-2022

Today I thought I’d just ask one question, based on some comments I got on another challenge I host.   It’s been niggling at my mind since.   The original question was “Would You Rather Hear The Music Of Johann Sebastian Bach Played By A Barbershop Quartet, Or A Heavy Metal Band?”  (SYW from March 7th, 2022).   Some of the answers I got were very interesting, although most participants preferred the Heavy Metal version of Bach to a Barbershop Quartet.

For instance this one from Marilyn of “Serendipity”:

The BBC series “Soul Music™” also lists seven other songs inspired by classical music.   You can read about that here.

QUESTION

Do you have a favorite song or instrumental based on or featuring a piece of classical music?

I was looking for such a topic and found this interesting.   Apparently the classical rock song “Whiter Shade of Pale” by Procol Harum has been considered to have been based on Bach’s “Air on a G String.”  A podcast by Musicologist, Allan Moore deconstructs the idea.    You can listen to that, if you are interested by clicking here .
