Hello everyone,
It’s been a while and I’m sorry; life has been crazy, looking for a job, handling kids because school was closed due to covid… you know same old, same old.
I’ve also been writing my own story and a collaborative story with friends and so I’ve dived into the world of archetypes and characters’ arcs. I’d never actually studied it in depth and it’s been an amazing rabbit hole, filled with discovery and challenges and headaches and heartache. I’ve enjoyed the ride so much, I figured I’d share.
So the Seductress, because it’s one of the archetypes I’m working with right now to be honest.
The Seductress carries some emotional baggage. She has a streak of distrust a mile wide and ten miles deep. Her true desires and motivations are carefully concealed behind a sensual smile. Knowledge is power, so she makes sure no one knows her. Not willing to leave herself unprotected, revelations of the Seductress’s true self are few and far between.
From The Complete Writer’s Guide to Heroes and Heroines by T. Cowden, C LaFever and S Viders
Have you ever met a Seductress in your life? How did you interact with her? How did she impact your life? How did you impact hers? Or maybe you are a Seductress at heart… How do you build relationship with others? How do you use your power of seduction? Or write a short tale with a Seductress as its main character… Is she a positive character or is she the ‘trophy wife’, ‘marriage breaker’…?

Pretty sure I’m a seductress, albeit of the unsuccessful variety 😉. This was fascinating – I know little about archetypes.

There’s a seductress (or a Charmer, its masculine counterpart) in everyone of us I think 😉 … it may not be the main driver of our lives but still 😉
