Tale Weaver 16.09.21 – Climate Change

Welcome everyone to this weekly Tale Weaver

I hope your summer was lovely… It’s not quite autumn yet, but well. Here in France, it’s actually sweltering, whereas we had a rainy July and August. 

When you ask people, summer is usually their favourite season – I’m more of a fall person myself – because it rhymes with holidays, far niente, beach… you name it. For me it’s sticky hotness LOL and usually synonym with headaches from heat. Anything above 25C makes me uncomfortable; thoughts to all West Coasters where the temperature ran up to 45C back in July. That is crazy! 

Though mind you I preferred the dry 45C of Vegas (we visited in September though so probably not the city at its hottest) to the humid heat of Torontonian summers.

Now how does this relate to our Tale Weaver prompt you might wonder. 

Well, from geography classes in primary school, I learned about the different types of climates one might find on earth: tropical, dry, temperate, continental, polar. We learned where to find each of these climate types on the globe, what their summer and winter are like, what the average yearly precipitation is… 

So what if your character (or you) woke up one day in a world where the climate is drastically different from your usual experience? 

Is it a choice? Did you move countries (I do recall the shock of my first Canadian winter) and are you experiencing a new climate?

Is it something that happened overnight (magic, apocalypse…)? Do you do something to change it back? 

Are you somewhere with a mission? What does this new climate do to your body? Morale? Spirit?
