Sunday Writing Prompt, June 20/21 – Tickle my Fancy

Welcome back to, Sunday Writing Prompt!

One of my favorite childhood memories is my little sister and I watching the Faerie Tale Theatre films. My inspiration for today stemmed from, The Princess Who Never Laughed, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtkzumWTQkw

She was a princess, living a very serious and structured life. She pleaded to her father, the king, to bring her someone to make her laugh. I, myself, live a structured and sometimes serious life, raising two very young boys and working on top of that. I am itching for a snicker, a giggle, even a full-blown belly laugh! We ALL deal with stress, whether it be in your personal or professional life. Let’s set that aside for a few minutes, and tap into SILLINESS 🙂

I spent quite a bit of time trying to come up with a specific word or theme to serve as inspiration. Hard to nail down just one. But, after a lot of deliberation, I decided to close my eyes and point to wherever my brain went first. I was just as surprised as you!

Seems a bit obscure, but the challenge for this week is to make us laugh using the prompt – THE NANNY

I have NO idea what you’ll come up with, which makes me very excited 🙂

The Rules:

  • The style is completely open; poetry, prose, even a single sentence…Go where the prompt takes YOU!
  • Keep your submission to 500 words or less.
  • Post it on your page, and TAG it Sunday Writing PromptSWPMLMMMindlovemisery’s MenagerieAnd be sure to leave a link or pingback in the comment section below.
  • Feel free to use my photo for inspiration, or as your own cover image.
  • Please have your submissions in by the END OF EACH FRIDAY (Pacific Standard Time). Every Saturday, I will post a “standout” piece in a post entitled, SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT. Bear in mind, it will be based on my personal opinion. If you are not chosen, that does NOT mean your piece was not superb.
  • Be creative and HAVE FUN!

Please, take a moment and visit last week’s selection for the Saturday Spotlight series, Ladyleemanila, https://ladyleemanilablog.wordpress.com/2021/06/13/fiery-and-fascinating-is-what-im-hoping/

    Adult Nanny

Everyone could do with an adult nanny
who’ll help you find your shoe
    adult nanny keeps you fed
    does your dishes
    makes your bed
just to tidy up for you
stop and tell a joke or two
adult nanny is your best friend
    no matter your age
    it never ends

Sometimes I think my parents might love their grandsons a little bit more than me…I get hugged last now. I’ve become an afterthought. LOL I say this in jest. Makes my heart happy watching them together 🙂

I’ll try and submit something but unfortunately the week didn’t quite go as planned. Both kids got sick and I’ve had little to no time to write. Been enjoying reading your stories though 😊
