Sunday Writing Prompt, June 13/2021 – Poetic Justice

Welcome back to, Sunday Writing Prompt!

Poetic Justice: “An outcome in which vice is punished and virtue rewarded, usually in a manner peculiarly or ironically appropriate retribution for one’s actions.”

The KICKER for this week is, I would prefer anyone who feels inspired by this prompt to write in a poetic fashion. It doesn’t have to rhyme, but there should be a tempo, pace, a personal cadence.

Definition of Poetry: Literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm.

Sky’s the limit on this one. Speak on poetry, speak on justice. Combine the two and nail the subject matter! No right or wrong here, just make sure you create POETRY 🙂

Alternatively, use this as an opportunity to Justify your Poetry! Have something tucked in your pocket you’d like to express?! Share it! Then give us a little back-story to its origin/inspiration.

The Rules:

  • The style is usually completely open, but please, keep it to poetry this week 🙂
  • Keep your submission to 500 words or less.
  • Post it on your page, and TAG it Sunday Writing PromptSWPMLMMMindlovemisery’s MenagerieAnd be sure to leave a link or pingback in the comment section below.
  • Feel free to use my photo for inspiration, or as your own cover image.
  • Please have your submissions in by the END OF EACH FRIDAY (Pacific Standard Time). Every Saturday, I will post a “standout” piece in a post entitled, SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT. Bear in mind, it will be based on my personal opinion. If you are not chosen, that does NOT mean your piece was not superb.
  • Be creative and HAVE FUN!

Please, take a moment and visit last week’s selection for the Saturday Spotlight series, Sadjehttps://lifeafter50forwomen.com/2021/06/09/sunday-writing-prompt-june-6-2021-not-my-circus-not-my-monkeys/

HAPPY WRITING, EVERYONE!!

  2. Oh this one is going to be a real challenge; I’m not usually poetically minded and writing poetry in English? Beyond a tanka I’m usually…. terrible LOL
Argh… we’ll see what the muse comes up with.

      • Well this one will be a fail for me this week; and for some reason- probably tied to lack of sleep and of job interview (even acknowledgment of reception of resume and cover letter) – it’s been so frustrating I found myself tearing up this morning as I threw away my 8th attempt at this. That’s ok though; while I find the theme fascinating I guess it doesn’t work for me.

      • Stephanie!! The amount of prompts I’ve written drafts for and then deleted… NOT FAILURE. Either it flows, or it doesn’t. NEVER get upset because a prompt doesn’t work for you. You are an excellent writer!! But, that doesn’t mean you HAVE to write a response to every prompt. I appreciate the effort, but don’t beat yourself up because one doesn’t work out the way you’d like it to. Another opportunity is awaiting you, just round the corner 🙂

      • I know this objectively, but these past weeks have been challenging. I’m more emotional than usual…
Ever since I was a kid in middle school, I’ve been terrified of the blank page: it’s always felt like a failure. School can do that to you 😂😂.
And I hate failing- like most people I imagine – especially when I don’t see the lesson. And I guess I don’t see it just now 😜.

      • Sorry to hear you’ve been having a hard time 😦 Just because a prompt don’t work for you, does not mean you failed. Not every prompt works for every person. No lessons to be learned today, other than to cut yourself some slack. There shouldn’t be pressure here. This is just a place to read, learn, grow, laugh, cry, be inspired, or not. And sometimes, write! You’re not being judged here.
