Disney’s MOANA: “He was a Demigod of Wind and Sea. He was a warrior, a trickster. A shape-shifter who could change form, with the power of his magical fish hook.” If you haven’t seen it, you should. It’s a fantastic movie! …my three-year-old forces us to watch it at least twice a day ๐

Definitions of Shape-shifter:“A person or being with the ability to change their physical form at will.” “One that seems able to change form or identity at will; especially a mythical figure that can assume different forms (as of animals).”
Feel free to take that and run with it!! As a fan of Sci-fi and Fantasy, submissions to that regard will truly tickle my fancy ๐
In case you’d prefer something more realistic/relevant, a few suggestions came to mind:
Online dating: Expecting one thing, but receiving another
Thirty-seven years married when your spouse suddenly becomes withdrawn, cold, another person
Friendships destroyed by a shift in personality
Altering one’s own self to fit in
A doting mother by day, a promiscuous party-girl by night
A caterpillar transforming into a butterfly
Dare I suggest, a politician
This weekโs Sunday Writing Prompt: Shape-shifter
The Rules:
The style is completely open; poetry, prose, even a single sentenceโฆGo where the prompt takes YOU!
Keep your submission to 500 words or less.
Post it on your page, and TAG it Sunday Writing Prompt, SWP, MLMM, Mindlovemiseryโs Menagerie. And be sure to leave a link or pingback in the comment section below.
Feel free to use my photo for inspiration, or as your own cover image.
Please have your submissions in by the END OF EACH FRIDAY (Pacific Standard Time). Every Saturday, I will post a โstandoutโ piece in a post entitled, SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT. Bear in mind, it will be based on my personal opinion. If you are not chosen, that does NOT mean your piece was not superb.
I adore Dwayne Johnson! I love how he doesn’t take himself too seriously despite his amazing talent…and smoulder ๐ My little guy knows most of the words to his songs. I very much enjoyed your submission, and your choice of photo was fab!
Thanks Sara. I must admit since I saw him in San Andreas he has grown on me and then Moana proved he could sing! haven’t got round to seeing the movie though.
I’ve used the image before and have always liked it.
I haven’t seen that movie, but I’ll check it out! I’ve seen him in many other things, and he keeps growing on me…handsome, funny, talented…seems like he’s actually a really nice person, which is the kicker for me. Arrogance is a huge turn-off
Such a good job, Susan. I felt transported into your story…very much enjoyed the tribal/Native American take. Waneta is a new term for me, so thank you for that!
I think having kids means watching the same thing over and over and over. Right now our eldest is on Paw Patrol. Definitely preferred when it was Kung Fu Panda ๐๐๐
Weโre only allowing screen time on Sundays for 1hour (otherwise itโs impossible to make him stop without a tantrum) so itโs not daily thankfully ๐ .
So much beauty in this tale. Powerful and important lessons throughout, and a surprising ending that has yet to be told, but should be! Excellent, Lorraine ๐

I looked the term up. I knew Native Americans must have terms for shape-shifters. Much appreciated!
