So I have been “away” for a while now. Many of you may not know this but I have been going through a divorce (after 20 years of marriage: technically I am officially divorced as of a few days ago). I do not have a job currently and I do not have friends or family in the country. So I have been trying to work things out and I quite literally have no idea what I am doing. I have started an erotic novel as the job search so far has not lead me anywhere. Anyways I am sure you have noticed I haven’t been very active lately at WP in general so I have admittedly lost track of everything happening here at MLMM. I love MLMM. I can see that it is not running so smoothly at that moment. So if anyone can fill me in. Which prompts have been “MIA” for a while? Which prompts need a new host? Are there people who have signed on to host but are unsure of how to get started? Which hosts are feeling overburdened and either want some extra help or are feeling that they might like to resign? If you would be interested in running the show here, organizing everything, getting the newbies settled let me know as I do not feel that I am doing a very good job at the moment. Either leave a comment below or contact me directly at kesaiserris@gmail.com

  1. I am so very sorry to hear about your circumstances. I do understand the job search struggle (been going on 6 months). Sending you virtual hugs if I may be so bold.
Good luck on the novel writing front.

    MIA prompts:
Wednesday haiku – not sure since when but I imagine Chevrefeuille is kept busy by the pandemic in the Netherlands.
Thursday Tale Weaver – 3 weeks; we have a new host but he may be somewhat confused on how to start even after Michael’s thoughtful advice. It can be daunting when it’s the first time and not your own blog.

    • Thank you so much Stephanie and yes cyber hugs are welcome. Good luck with your job search, it is a nightmare. Chevrefeuille is a nurse so he is busy with the pandemic. So Wednesday will probably continue to be intermittent for a while. I will try to check in with the new guy and see if I can get him settled in.

  2. So, sorry to hear you’ve been struggling. Stephanie mentioned two of the missing prompts. The Tuesday Picture prompt has also been missing for a couple weeks.

  3. Sending gentle, virtual hugs. I hope you find your new groundings. All the best with the job search, and your novel.
I pop by now and then, and made the same observations. Good luck.

  4. I have not been a regular until very recently so I don’t really know the drill. But I am sorry that your circumstances are so difficult. I so appreciate the work various bloggers go to providing prompts and interesting ideas for people to springboard from. I can’t help you with what’s missing but I can appreciate your interest and willingness to work at continuing a fabulous site.

    • Thank you so much for your kind words =) I know it has not seemed so as of late but I love providing encouragement and inspiration to other writers. I love the community we have built together here =)

  5. I am still here and I am willing to help out any of the new hosts in any way. The Mr. Linky thing is hard to get the hang of, especially with the new block editor that has been forced on us, and I am not sure what advantage it offers. I use it but some of the other hosts have ditched it. I spend a lot of my time on site maintenance, deleting spam, and reviewing pending posts to approve them and it gets tiring. We need to have every host doing this maintenance, not just me. Many posts sit in folders too long and that frustrates the people who have taken their time to respond to them. I know most of the regular writers here and when I see any of their posts, I approve them, but the ones that I don’t know sit in limbo, which is a problem. I am only here every other Friday and although I try very hard my posts are generally ignored.

    • it’s somewhat reassuring to know I’m not the only one not a fan of the new block editor. I end up posting on my phone because I can’t have the classic or html on my computer anymore (then again I’m not the most computer literate person in the world 😂🙏🏻)

    • Thank you so much for doing that. I know I have had a slow read/response rate lately. So I am certainly responsible for some of those unapproved posts. I need to find my rhythm again. Do you happen to know the new member taking over for Michael on Thursdays? If so it would be wonderful if you could contact him and get him started. I have contacted Neeraj and all is well. He was out of town and expected to have an internet connection but didn’t. He will be back again for Tuesday. The Wednesday prompt will be intermittent as the host is a nurse dealing with the Pandemic. Participation is a little intermittent as well with everything going on in the world I think it can be so but I know many people love and appreciate the prompts. I know you spend a lot of time creating your posts for the prompt and I am immensely grateful. The theme for your day is up to you as an author so you are welcome to experiment with the theme so long as it does not overlap with someone else’s theme.

      • I am going to continue with the music theme, as I have many posts already planned out. I am hosting two other music prompts and this one is the only bi-weekly, so it is no big deal for me, but sometimes I wonder if I am going to be fired because the participation is always low. I did read that Aseem Rastogi of transitionofthoughts has taken over as the new host of Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Thursday Tale Weaver from Michael and I started following him, but I never saw him post anything. I do not know him and I think it would be better if you approached him instead of me. I don’t know all the details that you went through with your divorce but I am happy for you that it is finally settled. I am also happy to be a member of the Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie team and I think it is great that we can talk like this, but I had my email hacked and in case you have been trying to get in touch with me I should give you my new one just in case you need me to substitute for another host or you want to discuss something more privately. When the hacker took my email I lost everyone’s email that is in our group so you can contact me at JimBobNewM353@outlook.com if you like.

      • Thank you for informing me. I am so sorry to hear that your email had been hacked yikes. You won’t be fired! This is a fun project, inspiring others. I like to create a positive and safe place for people to express themselves =) Thank you for giving me his name I will check in with him and see how it is going =)

  6. Hi Yves. So sorry to hear about your divorce. It takes time to get things back on an even keel.
I hadn’t seen anything for Tale Weaver since Michael’s departure so didn’t know who had taken it over. Glad to know Nekneeraj is OK as I’ve missed the Tuesday photoprompts too.
Hope the job front produces something positive for you soon. Take care, and welcome back.

    • Thank you so much =). I am having some trouble reaching the new host for Thursdays but hopefully I will reach him soon, otherwise everything seems to be falling into place. It is a huge change for me

      • Friends come into their own now. Hopefully, you can meet new people through various activities once they start up again after lockdown. It is very strange suddenly being on your own. I’d only been married 3 years, and the live in relationship lasted almost 8. When that failed, I moved back to my home town and all my previous friends had ‘moved on’ and we had nothing in common. I knew no-one but was lucky to land a job in 2 days and got on well with my workmates, plus the bank had a social cub, so there was always something going on somewhere.
Hubby and I have been together 32 years now and married for 30 of those, so we were very lucky, especially as neither of us wanted anything to do with relationships, partnerships or romance! All I can say is take things at your own pace.

      • I have just been in for an interview and it went well, it is only a summer job and provided it is not required I have a driver’s license I might have gotten it =) Congrats on 30 years! I haven’t given up on love at all. I have no idea what it is in store for me but for the first time in a very long time there has been some sort of shift in my life. Maybe I can get unstuck.

  7. I found a work-around for the new block editor that seems to work (at least so far). I was about to abandon wordpress I was so frustrated. Still frustrated over another issue, but . . .
For those interested, I will see if I can put together a how-to. I could post it, or email it to interested parties. As far as I know, no one from wordpress ever reads my posts, but the one time they would . . . lol.
I will try and do it to co-indicine with my wordle post.

  8. Divorce is never pleasant. I had to live through it via my one set of parents…
(Even when some say they have amicable ones…)
I hope you can find the things that you need to manage.

  9. Thanks for sharing Jules. My fix is slightly different and less elegant. I think I will stick with mine, at least for the time being. It doesn’t involve going into accounts; I have trouble with that sort of thing, lol.

    • I didn’t move any accounts. Sue has other Fixes. Perhaps if you went to her site and emailed her or left a comment in one of the posts concerning the Block / Classic editor she could help you. I have not used the block editor on my own site except for one day – then I found my ‘back door’ so to speak and have been using my own Classic Editor since.(only one thing changed in my left side information which I also figured out I didn’t need. Especially once I remembered to hit the refresh button after following some steps to get back to classic. I might have a different explanation sheet so-to-speak if you are interested. Let me know and I’ll hunt it down for you, if you aren’t able to get Sue to help.

      • Thanks, Jules — my backdoor fix works so far fingers crossed by getting to the classic editor for new, drafts, scheduled and published post. Good to have Sue as a backup if my fix stops working. Don’t worry about the explanation sheet right now; if I lose my backdoor, I will ask you for the “key” to the front, lol.
Thanks for all the advice and suggestions. Really appreciate it.

  10. I’d honestly just like it if my comments would be published! I try commenting with WordPress, with just filling in my info, with Google, with Twitter, and with Facebook. My comments are all eaten as Spam.
I would be happy to share your novel on my book blog, Readers Roost, when it comes out.
