I always thought it would be nice to have breakfast with Tiffany, the American singer, songwriter, actress, and former teen icon, but I don’t even know if she eats breakfast. Tiffany is most notable for her 1987 cover of the song ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’, which was originally recorded twenty years earlier by Tommy James and the Shondells. Both versions of the song reached #1 on the charts. The song was written by the American songwriter, singer and record producer Ritchie Cordell. The song is about teenage promiscuity, and it seems that sex will always be an influence for teens. Cordell got a co-writing credit on ‘Mony Mony’ and ‘Gimme Gimme Good Lovin’ the Crazy Elephant song. Cordell died of pancreatic cancer in New York in 2004, at the age of 61. “Weird Al” Yankovic did a parody of this song with his ‘I Think I’m A Clone Now’.
In the 1980s Tiffany when she was only nine years old, she was discovered by Hoyt Axton and his mother Mae Axton when she was in a talent contest singing at a club. Tiffany became an overnight sensation, but after her first two hugely successful albums Tiffany (1987) and Hold an Old Friend’s Hand (1988), she basically disappeared from the charts, although she kept making records. People magazine featured an article on Tiffany’s mall tour which began at the Bergen Mall in Paramus, New Jersey and this helped her to get a lot of airplay and that convinced MCA Records to release this song as a single. When this song reached #1 on the Billboard chart, it displaced Michael Jackson’s ‘Bad’ and it stayed on top for 2 weeks. Her song, ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’, re-entered the U.S charts in 2019 after being featured in Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy. Tiffany has been married and divorced twice and beside her music, Tiffany has posed nude in Playboy and has guest-starred on several reality television shows, and she has acted in a handful of horror and science fiction films.
Children behave, that’s what they say when we’re together
And watch how you play
They don’t understand
And so we’re
Running just as fast as we can, holding on to one another hands
Trying to get away into the night and then you put your arms around me
And we tumble to the ground and then you say
I think we’re alone now,
There doesn’t seem to be anyone around
I think we’re alone now,
The beating of our hearts is the only sound
Look at the way we gotta hide what we’re doin’
‘Cause what would they say
If they ever knew
And so we’re
Running just as fast as we can, holding on to one another hands
Trying to get away into the night and then you put your arms around me
And we tumble to the ground and then you say
I think we’re alone now,
There doesn’t seem to be anyone around
I think we’re alone now,
The beating of our hearts is the only sound
I think we’re alone now,
There doesn’t seem to be anyone around
I think we’re alone now,
The beating of our hearts is the only sound
Running just as fast as we can, holding on to one another hands
Trying to get away into the night and then you put your arms around me
And we tumble to the ground and then you say
I think we’re alone now,
There doesn’t seem to be anyone around
I think we’re alone now,
The beating of our hearts is the only sound
I think we’re alone now,
There doesn’t seem to be anyone around
I think we’re alone now,
The beating of our hearts is the only sound
I think we’re alone now,
There doesn’t seem to be anyone around
I think we’re alone now,
The beating of our hearts is the only sound
I think we’re alone now,
There doesn’t seem to be anyone around
I think we’re alone now,
The beating of our hearts is the only sound
The challenge today is to focus on this song and use it for a short story, a piece of flash fiction, or a poem that you can share with the WordPress writing community. There is no need to stick with this song, as if you like to write about another Tiffany song, or a song by the other teen idol Debbie Gibson, or one by Tommy James and the Shondells, or anything written by Ritchie Cordell, then go with that. You might also go with a song that is about teenage sex. Maybe you could write a post about a song about holding hands, or being alone. If you would like to write about parents not understanding children, that would also work. The whole point of this MM Music challenge is to get you to think, to trigger something so that you can show how creative you are and everyone is welcome to participate. This challenge is very loose, so pretty much whatever you come up with will be acceptable. I try to throw some ideas out there for you and if they seem right, then go with it. You could write about misbehaving, or you could write about The Umbrella Academy.
Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie brings you a dose of fetish, good friends and an incomparable muse and Dylan Hughes will be here next Friday on November 6 with her First Line Friday and she will provide the first line for your post and then you get to write whatever comes afterward, with the length, genre, and structure being completely left up to you. I will be back on Friday, November 13 with another MM Music Challenge where we will discuss the song ‘Rolling In The Deep’. When you are finished writing your post, create a ping back to this post, but you can also place your link in the comments section below if you desire. This Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie MM Music challenge has a special feature called Mr. Linky, which will allow you to instantly link your post after you click the Mr. Linky Button, and permit everyone to read your post sooner that way, and then follow the directions that are given.

Reblogged this on A Unique Title For Me and commented:
Tiffany Darwish is scrappy and free-spirited entertainer from Norwalk, CA. who eventually became a stay-at-home mom. Tiffany became the youngest female artist to top the Billboard chart with a debut album Tiffany. She gave some shopping-mall performances that kick-started her rise, and this became a promotional strategy that was successfully used later used by Britney Spears and Taylor Swift. In 1988, Tiffany started working with the little-known teen group, New Kids On The Block, and that was a big break for their career. In 2019, both Tiffany and Debbie Gibson appeared on the Mixtape Tour, that was headlined by New Kids on the Block.

I’d never heard the original, but remember Tiffany……. I preferred Debbie Gibson actually.
Loved the old boy doing the dance routine in the clip.
I was reminded of this song when I was watching the second season of The Umbrella Academy.
