  1. If I gave my walk to you again
I would harbor it in the grey
I would crawl, intact, through summits of myself
The nursemaid pain reflecting on thoughts I never had.
Boots extended, I would feel my way across the wet
Dark pines would needle me into awareness
The grey vale of dreams would fasten tight
    Around my ankles
The ineffable waves pounding me, again and again,
    Against the shore.
If I gave my walk to you again,
You could take it down to the pain of yesterday,
Down to the bones of tomorrow
And lastly, extend it into the dreams of today,
So that you would never travel that way (as I have)
