Sunday Writing Prompt “Overcoming the Odds”

For this prompt I want you to think of a time when the odds did not appear to be in your favor. A time when your objective/desire/hopes seemed totally out of alignment with reality but that something in you told you to persevere anyhow. What was the outcome of your efforts? Did you get what or who you wanted? Was it what you thought it would be? Was it better than you could have imagined? Was it worse or just totally different? Did you end up spoiling it for yourself anyhow? Did it turn out to be one of the best things that ever happened to you? What or whom were you up against? How did you finally overcome the odds?
