A dose of fetish. Good friends. An incomparable muse.

Music Challenge #42: “Leave A Light On” by Tom Walker #musicchallenge #MLMM #amwriting

Yes, it’s me again. Enough music prompts right? But, back some months ago, there was one other Music Prompt I missed and was not able to finish. So, I will leave you, and lead you into the new year, with not only hope, but remembrance for those who feel lonely and lost when many of us feel close to our family’s and friends.

Don’t be afraid to reach out, sometimes others only need an invitation to be and feel included. Also, be aware that sometimes people can feel the most lonely in a crowd. When I listen to Tom Walker’s “Leave A Light On” that’s what I think of — remember to leave the light on for those in your life who need help, but can’t always say why or speak. Read a recent interview of Tom Walker HERE.

Use “Leave A Light On” as an inspiration to any form of creative expression (including but not limited to short stories, poems, lyrics, artwork, photography, (etc.). Alternatively, if you are a musician, use this as an opportunity to showcase your own work.

What do the lyrics inspire in you? Do you feel uplifted as if you too have hope and feel supported by Walker’s words? What has helped you through difficult experiences in life? A friend of family member? You can always use pieces of the lyrics to inspire you. Any creative form goes. And you don’t have to be direct or explicit if the nature of your piece is too personal.

Lyrics: “Leave A Light On” by Tom Walker

*****

Leave A Light On”

*****

The second someone mentioned you were all alone
I could feel the trouble coursing through your veins
Now I know, it’s got a hold
Just a phone call left unanswered, had me sparking up
These cigarettes won’t stop me wondering where you are
Don’t let go, keep a hold
*****

If you look into the distance, there’s a house upon the hill
Guiding like a lighthouse it’s a place where you’ll be
Safe to feel our grace ’cause we’ve all made mistakes
If you’ve lost your way…

*****

I will leave the light on
I will leave the light on
I will leave the light on
I will leave the light on

*****

Tell me what’s been happening, what’s been on your mind
Lately you’ve been searching for a darker place
To hide, that’s alright
But if you carry on abusing, you’ll be robbed from us
I refuse to lose another friend to drugs
Just come home, don’t let go

*****

If you look into the distance, there’s a house upon the hill
Guiding like a lighthouse it’s a place where you’ll be
Safe to feel our grace ’cause we’ve all made mistakes
If you’ve lost your way…

*****

I will leave the light on
I will leave the light on
I will leave the light on
I will leave the light on
I will leave the light on

*****

If you look into the distance, there’s a house upon the hill
Guiding like a lighthouse, it’s a place where you’ll be
Safe to feel our grace and if you’ve lost your way
If you’ve lost your way (I will leave the light on)
And I know your down and out now, but I need you to be brave
Hiding from the truth ain’t gonna make this all okay
I see your pain if you don’t feel our grace
Then you’ve lost your way
I will leave the light on
I will leave the light on
‘Cause I will leave the light on

*****
