Music Challenge #40: “Drop Top” by Keith Urban Ft. Kassie Ashton #amwriting #musicchallenge #MLMM

I’m sure I’ve said so, but back in September, I had the opportunity to attend a Keith Urban concert in Edmonton at our new arena. One of Keith Urban’s songs that has grown on me is his country dance/pop mix with singer Kassie Ashton.

At first I wasn’t sure, but I think it has a creative beat and feel to it compared to a lot of Urban’s previous collaborations. This unique Coachella dance vibe. So, I hope you enjoy “Drop Top” by Keith Urban and Ft. Kassie Ashton. You can read a bit about Kassie Ashton’s song with Urban in this article, ” Keith Urban Wanted Kassie Ashton’s ‘Swagger’ . . . And yes, this is my makeup ‘Music Challenge’ for December 14th, 2018. Don’t worry, my regularly scheduled piece will come out 6:00 am SHARP tomorrow. Also, praying Mister Linky works for both posts. 🙏

“Drop Top” by Keith Urban Ft. Kassie Ashton (Live Version).

Use “Drop Top” as an inspiration to any form of creative expression (including but not limited to short stories, poems, lyrics, artwork, photography, (etc.). Alternatively, if you are a musician, use this as an opportunity to showcase your own work.

What do the lyrics inspire in you? Do you feel that sense of freedom, swagger, and promise both artists try to illustrate in the song? What does the collaboration make you think about? You can always use pieces of the lyrics to inspire you. Any creative form goes. And you don’t have to be direct or explicit if the nature of your piece is too personal.

Lyrics: “Drop Top” by Keith Urban Ft. Kassie Ashton

*****

She’s going to Coachella with feathers in her hair
She got a past and a dream catcher in her rear-view mirror (woah)
Oh, the band on her shirt, they’re coming on at 9
She doesn’t even know right now where she’s gonna stay tonight
She gonna stay tonight (woah)
*****

She’s on mission, you can see
She’s just gotta be free
Red lips on a refugee

*****

Saturday night, feeling alright
Show him what he lost in my jeans skin tight
Stars coming out, the music up loud
Saturday night, feeling alright
Shades on, dancing with my hands up high
Stars coming out, the music up loud
*****

She loves driving with her drop top down
Mmm, mmm
Driving with her drop top down
Mmm, mmm
******

Palm trees fading like a summer fling
Christa’s on the dash, everybody singing “The Shape of You,” mmm (woah)
Yeah, Becky’s gone quiet on the passenger side
And Maddie’s in the back, just a little too high

*****

Looking like a teenage dream
Red lips on a refugee
*****

Saturday night, feeling alright
Show him what he lost in my jeans skin tight
Stars coming out, the music up loud
Saturday night, feeling alright
Shades on, dancing with my hands up high
Stars coming out, the music up loud
*****
She loves driving with her drop top downMmm, mmm
Yeah, driving with her drop top down
Mmm, mmm
*****

Everybody sing
Mmm, mmm
Oh
Driving with her drop top

******

Saturday night, feeling alright
Show him what he lost in my jeans skin tight (hey)
Stars coming out, the music up loud
Saturday night, feeling alright (I’m feeling alright)
Shades on, dancing with my hands up high (with my hands up high)
Stars coming out, the music up loud

*****

She loves driving with her drop top down
Mmm, mmm
Driving with her drop top down
Mmm, mmm
Oh, driving with her drop top down
Mmm, mmm
She’s always driving with her drop top down
Mmm, mmm
