Heeding Haiku With Chèvrefeuille, June 6th 2018, hot summer night

Hot Summer Night

Dear friends of MLMM,

Welcome at a new episode of Heeding Haiku With … Maybe you are familiair with the tanka, that 5-lined Japanese poetry form. Tanka was (and is) used as a kind of love poem between secret lovers. It was a kind of conversation on paper (or in ancient Japan, silk) about love.

In my opinion love is not exclusively meant for use in tanka, because I think it is possible to create haiku as a love poem too. So this week I love to challenge you to create haiku or haibun in which love has the lead …

As you can see I used a nice image, maybe you can find your inspiration through that image or at least … I hope the image will awaken your muse. This week the theme is “haiku as a love poem” and the “theme” is “hot summer night”.

Let me give you an example of a haiku I wrote in which “love” had the lead:

torn apart clothes
thrown against a beach pole
a winter’s love

Have fun!
