Heeding Haiku With Chèvrefeuille, January 17th 2018, into the mountains

Dear friends of MLMM,

Welcome at a new episode of Heeding Haiku With … the feature in which I challenge you to create haibun or haiku on a given theme. This week I saw an awesome documentary about the Grand Canyon and that brought me the idea for this week’s Heeding Haiku With …

Create a haibun or haiku themed “into the mountains”. You can choose to create a haibun or a haiku, but there are a few rules you have to follow (if possible of course). For the haibun these are the rules:

  1. A Maximum of 250 words (including the haiku)
  2. The Haiku in your haibun have to follow the classical rules of a seasonword and the 5-7-5 syllables count.

For the haiku these are the rules:

  1. Follow the classical rules which are: three (3) lines, a kigo (or seasonword), 5-7-5 syllables, a kireji (or cuttingword, this can be “written” as punctuation), a Zen Buddhistic layer and a deeper meaning.
  2. Your haiku has to start with this first line “going into the mountains”.

Well … have fun!

When you have written your haiku, please TAG Heeding Haiku with Chèvrefeuille and Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie. Then add your link to the Mister Linky widget below.

About Chèvrefeuille

I am a Dutch haiku poet. And I am the owner and host of the weblog "Carpe Diem, a daily haiku meme" on Blogger (or Blogspot). I am writing haiku since the late eighties and in 2005 I became an international known haiku poet and in 2011 ten of my haiku were included in a worldwide anthology "Spasms of Light". With that anthology I became an even more known haiku poet. In October 2012 I started my daily haiku meme.
