Welcome to the Sunday Writing Prompt – October 15, 2017 – Name that Tune
Okay, let’s just chill out this Sunday with something a little —- odd?
Simple and straightforward: 10 names of ACTUAL musical groups/bands. (I know of the first two – but not the others) Read the list of band names.
YES – these are real.group.band.names. REAL.
Anyhow, there are 10 selections. Pick a few, one or two – and create something, anything – maybe 3?
Let yourself just have a ball with these. Create whatever – short story, flash fiction, poem. Just play.
Maybe you want to write some micro flash bursts? 3 lines for each band name? or maybe you just pick one and use it as a topic?
Knock yourself out and enjoy – and no, I’m not suggesting you google and YouTube some of the groups, unless you’re really that curious – but hey, there could be some amazing music out there.
Squirrel Nut Zippers
GoGo Penguins
Abstract Evil Barbie
Bimbo Toolshed
The Pineapples from the Dawn of Time
Reign of Frogs
Devil with Cheese
Stop Calling Me Frank
Loudmouthkitten
Kissyfoot
So create your scores and include the tags MLMM or Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie and Sunday Writing Prompt. Link up with the super cool Mr. Linky and create pingbacks and links here. You have a week to play and stop in and visit with your co-composers – I’m sure this is going to be a rocking week!

Ohh…. this does look interesting…
(mind if I stick in a plug for my participation in leading my own contest through Carrot Ranch?… you can always delete this comment…)
There is a link at this post to a contest and/or challenge that y’all might find interesting. It is stuffing a Septolet or two into a fiction piece. All are welcome:

If you link on Mr. Linky – it shows up right away – and Mr. Linky is for all platforms, including Blogger. If you link like you’ve done with your comment here – once you have had an approved comment on MLMM, it should show-up right away (unless the WP Gremlins are out) BUT pingbacks need to be manually approved by the prompt host or another MLMM administrator. And that is up to the availability of those hosting etc. So that’s why we offer the 3 types of options to cover all bases. π
thanks for your link π

no worries, I’m sure it’s fine – as long as you had fun and use the prompt as your point of inspiration, then that’s what really counts π and thank you π
– I’ve just read your post – and you took it and made it your own (instead of using the given band names) – so this is more than fine too! very creative – and that’s what totally counts π

Not my best, but I couldn’t resist!
I haven’t read the other submissions yet, so have no idea how folks tackled this excellent prompt! I’m guessing “in fine fiddle.”
BTW, the GoGo Penguins have quite the professional website . . .

“Best schmest” – what’s “best” anyhow? Besides, not everything has to be “perfect” for whatever the hell THAT means – as long as you had fun and were able to just let your mind go with it – then that’s all that counts π
Looking forward to reading your post – and whoo boy, are people just letting foot-loose and fancy free with this prompt = it’s absolutely wonderful π
Yeah, I saw that about the GoGo Penguins too – I had to check out the bands I listed, at least a little bit – made for some fun and interesting reading π

To add to your list: dog meat barbeque. Here’s a video https://youtu.be/QPySgjN7S6U I went to grad school with the lead singer. Your prompt made me think I should see what’s up with him.

Mike was wild — he was a great addition to our wacky graduate group — no one was really the “ordinary” sort the year I went in. That came with later intakes. Ahh, ’91 was a good year.

LOL – well, sometimes, it’s actually the timing – as in “fated to be” – and there is nothing like being a part of a group of movers and shakers, as it were π
