Sunday Writing Prompt #220: September 24, 2017 : Exquisite
Welcome to another Sunday Writing Prompt. Let’s get to it.
I’m providing you with one image and a line I’ve come up with. Feel free to use another image of your choice if you wish, BUT you must use the line in the following ways:
1. The line can not be altered.
2. Your creation, whether flash, poetry etc. is limited to no more than 88 words.
3. You can not write Haiku or Tanka – if you enjoy these forms, check out the Wednesday prompt.
4. Your piece must include something positive as a counter effect/balance – you’ll understand in a minute.
So here you are:
So use the line: The pain is exquisite, with no alterations, but anywhere in your piece, AND – however you choose to explore the topic of pain, you must include a counter-effect, balancing/opposite/silver lining, of some type, in your piece as well.
By way of an off-the-cuff example:
The pain is exquisite. The paper cut slices the skin of middle finger as easily as a hot knife slips through butter; she yelped, quickly sucking her finger, as if this would ease the sting. In the moment, slightly cross-eyed at the deep looking, she felt as if she was seeing her soul in the minute split, a pink and warbling newborn waiting for her first breath.
(67 words)
So that’s the idea for this week.
Think on it, play with the words, but be precise in your choices, write and have some fun. Please tag your posts MLMM or Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie, and Sunday Writing Prompt. Leave your links with Mr. Linky – and create your links and pingbacks. You have a week to play and may even consider writing several short briefs.

Your prompt is “exquisite” but not “painful.” Exquisite is one of my favourite words — and I like the pairing of it with pain — one of my least favourite, but most familiar words. Now, excuse for a 2nd cup of coffee and a “thunk” under my baseball “thunking” cap.

It is a lovely word – exquisite – it even rolls off the tongue beautifully. Pain? Not so much. Makes for a good play combo, I think. 🙂
hope the “thunking” isn’t too difficult – enjoy your coffee 🙂
and thanks 🙂

I have a line I will send to you. Too much pain at times to find the exquisiteness within it.

I can understand that.

I think I managed most of the requirements…though maybe a bit sketchy on the balancing with:
