Sunday Writing Prompt: July 30: Surfacing

Sunday Writing Prompt: July 30: Surfacing

It’s the last Sunday in July?! Imagine – well actually, you don’t have to imagine, you’re already here – Vous êtes ici – you are here – you have arrived. And speaking of arrivals and departures, this is my last turn at hosting/filling in/minding the store front for Yves. So a moment to thank you all for your wonderful contributions and creativity this past month. I’ve enjoyed creating and playing with you – and reading your inspired and inspiring posts. It’s been a pleasure sharing and commenting.

So today’s storyboard?

Surfacing

Dive into the deep – surface break to breathe again.

Read the storyboard as you wish – elements apart, or combining? Is there a theme or thread, seeds and pearls that current pull gently or drag down hard. Stop and catch a flash of sunlight refracting back? Play in the waters and waves for a bit – enjoy this last dip before the tides of summer/winter change.

Create/write in the style, form or genre that most whispers to you. Swim me a poem. Buzz me some flash. Boldly pen something politically incorrect? However you dip your toes is welcomed – but dive in – and surface, one last time.

You have a week to play. Please tag your posts with MLMM and Sunday Writing Prompt. And be sure to ping back and link to Mr. Linky – he is so friendly and capable, and loves a refreshing dip.

  1. The quote is amazing! The storyboard challenging, of course!
The title, Surfacing, always reminds me of the strange Margaret Atwood novel we read in school — time I read it again to see if I can make better sense of it now. While I’m at it, should reread her poems based on the journals of Suzanna Moodie — talking ’bout my “generation.”

    • thanks 🙂

it is a striking quote – tripped on it on Pintrest. And the images? LOL – how odd yet beautiful they are – as for the combo? It just “felt” right in a peculiar way.
Yes, I hear Surfacing and I automatically think Atwood. It’s been a long time for me too – maybe eventually I’ll add it to my TBRA pile – except the pile outstrips whatever time I might have on this planet! LOL
Atwood – so prolific and profound – and odd. 😀

      • yes – yes – I can understand and appreciate your sentiments. Often, these incredibly pivotal novels, like The Handmaid’s Tale, or 1984 or Heart of Darkness etc. have true staying power and decades later, when we revisit, we experience it all again in new ways, with fresh eyes – and often, these stories are more chilling to digest. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. 🙂

  2. Oh, and thanks for the fantastic job you’ve done filling in for Yves! Challenging prompts, amazing comments, and all! (((((((((Pat))))))))) and kudos — take a bow or a curtsey, which ever you chose. Do people curtsey in the real world anymore — even to royals? Time to google, but I digress . . .

    • LOL – yeah, people are still expected to curtsy to royals! *snickering* ….

thanks – it was a pleasure 🙂 and I’m glad you’ve enjoyed and played along when you were able 🙂

      • My response is tied to the title, rather than the storyboard — I kinda bambled in the garden of babble on. An emoji with a wink and a nod.
Thanks for getting my mind and fingers coordinated at least for a while.

  3. Oh my–Pat, you’ve done such a smashing job of hosting these prompts, and it appears you’re going out with a show-stopper!! Although I’ve given up on completing my assignments by due date, what with battling annoying illness, I suspect I’ll eventually get them all done and posted–regardless whether anyone reads them, as it’s just fun to write for many of the very creative prompts. Mostly, I”m so glad I got to meet you here–I’m sure our paths will continue to happily cross, BLESSINGS to YOU!!

    • thank you for your lovely comments and thoughts Jael 🙂 It has been my pleasure to play (I’ve hosted here on mlmm before, different sign-in names though and several of the prompts) – so perhaps we’ve crossed paths before 🙂 Anyhow, I’m glad that you’ve enjoyed the play time – and well, first and most importantly, get yourself feeling better – and then the creating can be easier – so as long as you create the ping back, I’ll find whatever you’ve written and can wander over to enjoy 🙂
And so bright blessings to you too – and we shall see each other here and there, I’m sure.
Have a wonderful week – and take care and rest up – arm thyself with sword and shield (however that is) to battle the bug you’ve got. hugs to you Jael 🙂
