Hiya!
This is Pat slipping in as Yves is away for July – so I’ll be minding the storefront for her prompts.
So it’s Sunday – and maybe it’s a lazy day for you? If here in N.A. it’s a long weekend for many and for those in Europe or Asia, perhaps the start of holidays. As for those on the flip side – hello Aussies and Kiwis – it’s Winter, and maybe it’s already Monday – and you need to chase the blues?
So here’s this week’s Sunday writing prompt. And if Oloriel posts one as well, you can pick and choose.
A quote from Bukowski and a mixed bouquet of flowers – featuring Ranunculus.
Sit with the quote and/or the images – and pick some essence or element and let your mind wander. It’s a powerful quote and you can wander into so many territories here.
Write in the style and form you wish – as it pleases you. Choose the positive, feature the negative, upstyle the mix of both elements.
Write a poem. Write some flash. Peel me a grape.
In other words: “Fill me up, buttercup”
random notes about Ranunculus:
Members of the genus include the buttercups, spearworts, and water crowfoots. The petals are often highly lustrous, especially in yellow species. Buttercups usually flower in the spring, but flowers may be found throughout the summer, especially where the plants are growing as opportunistic colonizers, as in the case of garden weeds.
All Ranunculus species are poisonous when eaten fresh by cattle, horses, and other livestock, but their acrid taste and the blistering of the mouth caused by their poison means they are usually left uneaten.

So Peel me a Grape – just a hand-full will do – and please ping back and/or leave your tales in Mr. Linky’s Hands – he is so capable. Remember to include the tags MLMM, Sunday Writing Prompt in your posts.
You have a week to play around.
And because there was a request about the “featured image” that shows up in your WP readers or on the main MLMM page – here it is – as far as I know, it’s another Google image – a free wallpaper design. Enjoy π
Interesting quote; one that I will need to mull for awhile. Welcome back into mlmm prompting. Have fun!

and since I couldn’t comment directly on your site: here are my thoughts:
I love your approach to this – and how you’ve chosen to use the juxtaposition of the seemingly incongruous – you’ve done it very well and to most excellent advantage. And I love how you’ve used French to end the poem. It is most fitting.
thanks for playing the Sunday writing prompt π

Hi Pat! Question: on the Reader, this post comes up with a different image, a very-very cool sort of flame-colored heart–which doesn’t show on this main-page of the post (which shows the flowers and Bukowski quote). Can you tell me about that–whether it’s an alternate image, or simply one you like–and can it be used, and if so, how to credit it? Sorry to make you work on a Sunday, haha π π xo, Jael

LOL – er … it’s just a “featured image” thing – no big deal – and honestly, in this case, you don’t need to credit it – it’s merely a “wallpaper” image that according to what I searched, was “free” – so I’ll “edit the post and you can copy/save it and use it as you wish π
