Hello there!
This week I thought we’d try another of the many “little ones” we visited in the past. I’ve chosen our post written by Paloma on April 11, 2016 introducing – The Baker Street!
The Baker Street was invented Palona says in here original post at Blog it or Lose it:
“after watching Benedict Cumberbatch portray Sherlock Holmes. I find his performances *intense* and *fascinating*. Cumberbatch makes the role up-to-date without losing the essence of the original Sherlock. My son also finds him interesting … though I’m sure he does so for completely different reasons. 😉” Sherlock written in March of 2013.
Here are the rules:
Each stanza has three lines.
Line 1: 2 syllables
Line 2: 2 syllables
Line 3: 1 syllable and includes a “b” in the word.
You may choose to bend the rules and
substitute any consonant or vowel
for the “b” – so long as you use the same
consonant or vowel in each third line.
There are no specific rules regarding number of stanzas,
rhyme, meter, linking stanzas, not linking stanzas, etc.
Here is an example of a Baker Street written by her:
What use, /
these dreams? /
Beasts – /
by turns /
spitting /
blaze /
and salt. /
Both sting – /
bite. /
And though /
these dreams – /
brutes – /
torment, /
I still /
beg: /
don’t leave … /
and I /
bleed. //
Now let me try to give you something to inspire your Baker Street:
Of course if you feel inspired to write a shadorma (3-5-3-3-7-5) that’s great too!
Once you’ve finished writing your piece tag Mindlovesmisery’s Menagerie and B&P’s Shadorma and Beyond, then add your name to the Mr. Linky app below.
Have a great time! See you soon, Bastet.
A baker street seems beyond me, but thanks for the Eurythmics! Always loved Annie Lennox.

I have written a shadorma inspired by an Annie Lennox song, keeping a related theme in Paloma’s poem. Hope this is OK. 🙂
