A dose of fetish. Good friends. An incomparable muse.
Welcome to this week’s Sunday writing prompt, featuring, in order, the next selection in the Tarot, The Hanged Man.
At first glance, this card can seem disturbing, yet further exploration and understanding reveals a far greater significance than what we perceive. In fact, this card really isn’t about death in a literal sense. Interestingly enough, this particular card is highly spiritual and about enlightenment and understanding, and growth.
General associations for this card:
However, in order to better appreciate the meaning and symbolism of this card, one needs to really study beyond a basic definition of the above-mentioned words.
This card can be read, often, as pointing to a moment of decision, choice, – a crossroads in some sense – where the choices presented, are not exactly clear or obvious. This card is about paradox.
The universal exploration of this card is about recognizing that some times the most obvious thoughts, ideas, courses of action are precisely NOT the best ones, regarding a circumstance or situation. Truth and enlightenment can be found, discovered or realized ONLY through surrender – a spiritual awakening in realization, which can offer release, and knowledge.
This card often signals that it is necessary to release ingrained, conditioned patterns of thought, behavior and actions – by choosing to surrender, in recognition, that the opposite is where the truth lies. In short – The Hanged Man is about letting go of control – controlling ideas, behaviors, attitudes that affect not only ourselves, but also how it is we interact in exchanges with others. This card reminds us that we impose and therefore restrict by continuing to engage in the same cycles and patterns.

Is your approach straightforward, rippling on the surface? Or do you slice through the darkness and emerge refreshed and transformed?
Ideas to consider: Literally, the world here is your oyster – as this card can refer to any aspect of life, its trials and tribulations, problems and concerns, patterns and cycles.
So – quick summation: it’s about control and release, surrender and sacrifice of old patterns of thought and conditioning, which yields a deeper, broader, understanding and perspective, and choice.
