Heeding Haiku With Chèvrefeuille February 17th 2016

Dear friends of MLMM,

What a joy to create another episode of Heeding Haiku With … for you all. Last week it was haibun-time, so this week it’s haiku again. Not so long ago I read a wonderful novel by Paulo Coelho, maybe you know it, The Pilgrimage. In this novel he tells us how he went on a pilgrimage to Santiago De Compostela in Spain. This pilgrimage is also known as the Camio.

He discribes how he finds his spiritual path and between chapters he discribes several exercises one of those exercises is about “The Arousel of Intuition”. I love to share that exercise here to inspire you.

The Arousal of Intuition (The Water Exercise)

Make a puddle of water on a smooth, nonabsorbent surface. Look into the puddle for a while. Then, begin to play with it, without any particular commitment or objective. Make designs that mean absolutely nothing. Do this exercise for a week, allowing at least ten minutes each time. Don’t look for practical results from this exercise; it is simply calling up your intuition, little by little. When this intuition begins to manifest itself at other times of the day, always trust in it.

Try this exercise and see what it will bring you …

Here is my attempt to write a haiku after this inspiring exercise:

blossoms fall
entering the realm of the clouds
muddy puddles

Well … I hope I have inspired you all.

Have fun!

About Chèvrefeuille

I am a Dutch haiku poet. And I am the owner and host of the weblog "Carpe Diem, a daily haiku meme" on Blogger (or Blogspot). I am writing haiku since the late eighties and in 2005 I became an international known haiku poet and in 2011 ten of my haiku were included in a worldwide anthology "Spasms of Light". With that anthology I became an even more known haiku poet. In October 2012 I started my daily haiku meme.
