Dear friends of MLMM,
Welcome to a new episode of Heeding Haiku … this is Paloma, filling in for Chèvrefeuille.
Last week our host presented haibun, so this week the challenge is to write a Christmas haiku or tanka.
To inspire you, I offer the painting by James Tissot — the Journey of the Magi on their way to seek the Christ Child – as well as two carols performed by one of my favorite groups, the Medieval Baebes:
Here is a tanka I wrote for Carpe Diem comparing Christmas carols to presents:
old carols –
ribbons of the ancient tongues
holding fast –
mindset and heartset
gifted beyond reach
Paloma
When you have written your haiku or tanka, please TAG Heeding Haiku with Chèvrefeuille and Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie. Then add your link to the Mister Linky widget below.
Have fun – and – Merry Christmas!
