To pass time, amuse myself, find inspiration, envision new characters, and other such things, I people watch. Life-long guilty pleasure.
Aaron Smith, in an October 2015 report for the Pew Research Center Internet Sciences Technology notes that 85% of Americans between 18 and 29 own/use a cell/smart phone. The peopled-soundscape is getting noisier, and harder to ignore.
While I don’t intentionally turn my ear in that direction, a snippet or two from such conversations provide sound tracks for people watching that truly turns speculation into an art form – from the sublime to the ridiculous.
My guessing games include the speaker and their words: “Well I’m not just ready for marriage.” Snippet of conversation overheard while a woman is loading parcels – boxes and zipper clothing bags from a bridal shop — into the back of a Mercedes-Benz SUV. Her large version iPhone has a pink case with heart and rose stickers around the picture of the groom’s (?) face. Who is she talking to? Will she head to the athletic store next to by high top converse chuck taylor’s to hightail it? Does she own multiple i-dolizing iPhone cases?
So, tale weavers. Put yourself in my shoes (I prefer high-top red). Serious or silly. Devious or delicate. Lascivious or ludicrous. Weave a tale of the people-scape where words and pictures may clash, confuse, or convince. Have fun!

Sounds like a really crazy nifty way to weave a tall tale or 3!
Thanks, Pat. Will you give it a try?
I’m hoping to – time and energy permitting … as well as brain function 😉
