Taleweaver’s Prompt #29 “Grimoire”

Grimoire is defined as a manual of witchcraft, recipes if you will. Obviously not all spell books are evil but given the season I thought horror would be appropriate. So I want you to write a story/poem about a malevolent book that grants the barer powers for a price. The sacrifices are up to you they can be anything from a drop of blood to a human life. In Planescape Torment the Grimoire of Pestilential Thought demands a higher price for upper level spells. The first level spells can be unlocked with a drop of your own blood but the upper levels require selling friends into slavery and murder. Tell us how you found the book. Consider having the book talk or have some sort of psychic pull so you can capture the characters slow descent into madness. I want you to show a clear escalation of events. You can have the character realize what they’ve done or have them turn completely it is up to you. If you are artist feel free to submit a picture instead.
