    If ever you should forsake
    your love of the sea
    she teased her lover,
    release a dove
    to my window
to see if I still love thee.

    Upon the eve
    of her wedding nuptials
to a man who never heard
the siren song of the sea
    a dove beat its wings
    against her window pane.
