Tale Weaver’s Prompt # 1 – Reality, Meet My Fiction

Hello all, and welcome to this week’s Short Story Prompt!

What I would like you to do/write about is :

Remember an event that really happened to you, then take a fictional character and insert him in the story. Rewrite the event to include both you and the character, change the outcome of the situation, for better, for worse, however you desire.

Some ideas and guidelines:

– The fictional character can be anything, like: a superhero, a protagonist of a book, a part of your personality imagined and shocked alive as a character and a person that in reality does not exist, archetypes, a character from a dream you once had,ย  and so on.

– You can rewrite the event and create a real story branching off into a fictional one, or you can write a speculative story, as in “What do I think would happen that day, if instead of person N, Snoopy was with me?”

Word limit: 500

If your inspiration takes you beyond 500 words, it is completely ok. Let the story live!

When you are done writing and you post the story to your blog, please insert the link to it in the Mr. Linky below and tag your post with Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie. You can also pingback to this post.

You have time until next Thursday to get involved!I Encourage everyone to read other submited entries and most of all, leave feedback to each other.

Now, LET’S GET WRITING!

  2. I have passed so many stories like that through my lips(and the listener was empty air) and my fingertips when I pressed their load upon the table. I look forward to see if I could actually conceive one into written words.
    Great prompt, Oloriel. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Fun. Thanks for the challenge. It was harder than I thought it was going to be to think of a real situation that I both wanted to write about and would have changed for the better with the addition of another character.

      • Why does Mr. L hate me? There is usually someone who hates me irrationally and with no slight on my part. I’m used to it, but I’ve never experienced it so directly with a computer. No, wait a minute, my 1998-2000 computer had a mind of it’s own. The tech folks wouldn’t believe what it did until they came up and saw for themselves. I have haunted computers.
